I had a conversation with a blind man yesterday about jaws and Text readers and I remembered that my iPhone 3gs has accesability options. The VoiceOver mode is not intutive but after reading the instructions and a little practice I can get by fine without looking at the screen. This is perfect for reading email or a webpage while driving (not that I have tried it yet).
Here’s how to get started:
Go to settings-general-accessability and change home tripple click to VoiceOver
Go to settings-general-accessability-VoiceOver don’t miss the fact they you can scroll down to find more settings.
Go to a page you want to have read to you and tripple click the home button
Tap the place you want to start reading and the quickly swipe down with two fingers.
Tripple click the home button to get out of VoiceOver mode or there are a tone of of more jestures to let you get around the phone. Read more here.
